Track Curator

Club Menangle has made its mark on the Australian harness racing scene and can now be acclaimed as one of the best in the world. The racing precinct has everything to accommodate every enthusiast’s needs and offers a wide range of options for the general public right through to the corporate identities. 

ROLE PURPOSE 

To ensure that the preparation and maintenance of the race track, machinery and facilities are to a high-quality standard. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Maintenance and preparation of the race track and associated facilities inclusive of fencing and stables and surrounding area.  
  • Daily maintenance of the grounds including the main track and exercise track 
  • Operation of equipment including water truck, tractor, conditioner, slasher, mowers, whipper snipper etc 
  • Basic repairs and maintenance of equipment and facilities 
  • Ensure the premises are prepared and returned to pre-race day order after events 
  • Ensure all racing equipment is regularly maintained and is in good working condition 
  • Maintain the racing plant and equipment asset log 
  • Ensure work is carried out safely and to appropriate standards 
  • Report on WHS issues or risks 
  • Act as the track curator at race meetings as required  
  • Follow all policies and procedures  
  • Support a constructive culture free from Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Understanding of harness track maintenance 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Experience dealing with outside contractors 
  • HR and machinery license 
  • Daily inspection of heavy machinery 
  • Experience understanding weather forecasts  
  • Ability to work to deadlines and in high pressure situations  
  • Ability to problem solve 
  • Ability to operate machinery  
  • Understanding of basic machinery maintenance 
  • Self-motivation and ability to meet deadlines; 
  • An understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements; 
  • Understanding of horses; 
  • Written and oral communication skills; 

This hands-on role is suited to a person who enjoys working in a self-managed environment 

KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION  

  • 2+ years experience as a track curator and or understanding of track maintenance  

DESIRABLE 

  • Certificate III in work health and safety 
  • White card

Club Menangle are looking for casual hospitality and wait staff to join our workforce.

  • We have a range of upcoming weekend shifts available, perfect as a second job or some extra income.
  • Successful applicants will have a great attitude, fantastic presentation and valid RSA and RCG.
  • Previous experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Join a fun and energetic team with free onsite parking, and above award casual pay rates.
  • Must be available Saturday evenings.

Commercial Partnerships Manager

We are looking for a Partnerships Manager to help define and manage the sales process for Club Menangle assets to maintain, upsell and build new partnerships and activity for the Club.

In the role you will:

  • Define the value of Club Menangle assets and create a sales strategy  in-line with company, marketing and club objectives
  • With the GM Marketing set achievable sales targets and deliver and/or exceed on those targets
  • With the marketing and hospitality establish a sales toolkit that can be promoted across Club Menangle channels
  • Establish relationships with current partners and seek out opportunities for upsell
  • Identify new partners as set out in the sales strategy and actively recruit these partners
  • Maintain long-term partner relationships that deliver a ROI
  • Create a collective of prize and promotional partners that offer a value add to marketing
  • Promote the hire of Club Menangle facilities for use by third party entertainment organisations

About you:

  • Previous work in sponsorship sales, delegates sales and/or account management-based sales
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing or a relevant discipline and/or experience

You will bring: 

  • Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Excels in face-to-face selling, presenting products and their benefits to clients
  • Confident of generating new business leads from cold calling, personal research and industry networking
  • Excellent communication skills and telephone manner
  • Highly motivated, ambitious and constantly striving for excellence and success
  • Customer focused and knows how to build and maintain relationships (both for account management and up-selling purposes)
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness

Marketing Coordinator – Racing

The racing precinct has everything to accommodate every enthusiast’s needs and offers a wide range of options for the general public right through to the corporate identities.

We are looking for a marketing coordinator to contribute to the marketing strategy from a racing perspective and execute this to build the brand and drive revenue building activities while working with participants.

In the role you will:

  • Work with the GM Marketing and GM Racing to build the strategy for racing communications and execute this strategy
  • Work with the GM Marketing and HRNSW to seek buy-in on the racing strategy
  • Oversee all racing administration, including photography, communications, social and collateral 
  • Be the go-to person for Owners, Trainers and Drivers and work with the GM Marketing and GM Racing to build the racing community
  • Seek out new areas for promotion such as horse ownership, the recruitment to the mini trots
  • Manage the production of race books, working with the graphic designer to continually improve layout

About you:

  • Previous working experience in the Harness Racing Industry is a must. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing or a relevant discipline and/or experience
  • Be available to work outside of business hours as required

  • Excellent written skills with acute attention to detail 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to take initiative, work autonomously and productively as part of a team, and establish and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to an organisation 
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver highly effective marketing campaigns that produce tangible and measurable outcomes with limited budget expenditure
  • Proven examples of collaborating, negotiating and communicating with a range of audiences and stakeholders both internal and external to an organisation
